
Sensei Steven A. Weber has
38 years of
experience in self-defense
training. He is a fifth degree Black Belt, Senior Training Instructor
under U.S. Director Richard A. Bowe and Southeast
Director of the Nihon Goshin Aikido Association. Not only trained in other
styles of Aikido, Judo, Karate, Ryu Kyu Kempo, Jujutsu, Aikijutsu, Tai-Chi,
Kobudo, and other arts, he
has traveled to Japan to experience their culture and more firmly understand the
roots of Japanese Martial Arts. Besides being the newsletter founder and
editor, he has also written and published the National Training Manual called
"The Student Guide". He graduated from the State University of
New York and began graduate work towards his M.B.A. As a Spartanburg
County Sheriff's Reserve Deputy for almost 10 years, he taught the practical
uses of Aikido in police defensive tactics. He was a S.C. Criminal Justice
Academy Certified Training Instructor for Police and Detention Officers.
He has given numerous demonstrations, including those in Madison Square Garden
and on T.V. (Public T.V., channel 4 & 7, and WSPA Carolina Noon - Tips on
Self Defense.) Numerous newspaper articles have been written about his art and
his unique teaching style. He established 5 schools in both Carolinas and
is currently the Chief Instructor at the Aikido Academy of Self Defense in the Tampa Bay area. He
was a Florida Certified Police
Tactics Instructor and a lead instructor at the Pasco/Hernando &
Hillsborough Police Academies. Sensei Weber continues to oversee the dojo
operations in the Tampa, Florida area and is now introducing the art of Nihon
Goshin Aikido to the Tucson, Arizona area.
